PAX Rising - Expressions of Interest for Attendance Support

Screen Tasmania is once again offering support to a limited number of Tasmanian game makers wishing to attend and exhibit at PAX Rising.

The indie-focused part of ‘the biggest gaming festival in Australia’ – taking place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre over 10-12 October.

Screen Tasmania has reserved a number of Indie Pods in a high traffic area, which will form a little corner of Tasmania in PAX Rising.

Screen Tasmania is offering:

  • 60% of the total cost for an Indie Pod or Premium Indie Stand, and
  • $750 travel support per person, up to 2 team members, provided as a grant.

Indie Pod

(total cost of $2,289.10 incl. GST)

  • 2m by 2m = 4sqm
  • 1020mm radius table
  • 1 x back wall graphic (2x 950mm x 1910mm)
  • 2 x lights
  • 2 x chairs
  • 1 x power point
  • public liability insurance
  • storage cabinet (unlockable)
  • 2 x exhibitor badges.

Please note that successful applicants will be required to pay the remaining balance of $915.64.

Premium Indie Stand

(total cost of $6,891.50 incl. GST)
This booth includes a 4 x 3m (12m2) size stand with three open sides

  • 3 x plinths (VR option – 2 plinths)
  • 3 x power points (4 amps)
  • 3 x back wall graphics (1 x 1940mm x1 440mm / 2 x 964mm x 1454mm)
  • 2 lights
  • carpet
  • storage cabinet (unlockable)
  • public liability insurance
  • option of including a wall mounted TV or VR alternative*
  • 5 x exhibitor badges.

Please note that successful applicants will be required to pay the remaining balance of $2756.60.

Eligibility

Please note that to qualify for indie pods at PAX Rising you must fulfil the following requirements:

  • financially committed to paying the balance
  • you must have at least 1 additional person to assist with running the Indie Pod
  • your game must meet PAX criteria:
    • established and registered company
    • no more than 5 full time / contracted employees at one time
    • your game must be playable
    • your game must not be deemed offensive and cannot contain nudity or drug references
    • R18+ rated games are not permitted in PAX Rising.

Screen Tasmania will provide a small banner to be included at the top of your graphic to highlight that you are part of ‘Team Tasmania.’

Selection

Screen Tasmania will assess applications based on the following criteria:

  • merit of the project
  • projected level of completion at the time of exhibiting
  • how attending this event will benefit the applicant
  • if applying for Premium Stand, evaluation of the team's capacity to coordinate and manage the stand throughout the event.

Priority will be given to projects which have not been showcased at PAX Aus in previous years.
